2015 was volatile as a whole range of factors from around the world impacted upon markets from stocks to currencies through to commodities. A lot of private investor advice is based upon the avoidance of volatility, but in actual fact if you think about it volatility creates opportunity. Remember that markets are irrational and all that volatility does is enhance or magnify that irrationality.

2016 looks to continue this volatility for the foreseeable future, encouraged by increasing tensions in the Middle East. Investors should be looking to position themselves to take advantage of what may be seen in the future as a historic opportunity as the year unfolds.
